In the 1940s, cars in general were dark, murky and kind of boring. That said, International trucks, for some reason used bright fun colors. I have a paint swatch from this era, and I had a number of colors to choose from. Originally I wanted red, but I couldn't because the buildings are red, so the truck won't stand out.
I wanted green, but they didn't have the shade I wanted for this year. I ended up using that color on the trailer instead. I could have used yellow, but decided on orange, because it stands out, and does look period. The truck is a 1939 International Harvester D-Series.
Now the trailer, I couldn't find any references for. Maybe it just has a proper name that I don't know of yet. It looks like it had a number of strikes on the front though, there are like a dozen patches there.
The building still stands, but not the grocer, that looks like it had a new front added onto it a while back. The rest look the same, and you can just barely make out the sign on the current store.
