Description
Colorized Photo from 1941, April
Original title: Part of the Easter parade on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois
Photographer: Russell Lee
Location: 5831 S. Indiana Ave, Chicago, IL
The original image had a bifurcated child in it, he didn't add, he seemed to just be there, so I removed him. Originally I was going to try to clone him out, but it wouldn't be worth my time and there would be too much blank space in there.
I chose fun cheery spring colors, matching it up to period color swatches. They are all wearing nylons, that's why they are a shade lighter than skin tones. The yellow shoe was a pain because of all the holes in it. I wasn't shore about the shoes on the right, I have seen some ugly shoes from the 40's, and this one did have two halves. Something suede and something patent leather. So I went with a two tone, to match her bag and hat.
I'm not quite sure about the expression of the center one. I'm guessing the photographer shot it right after the pink one told a bad joke. Or maybe she realized that wasn't a mint but a sour candy? Or she is lost in thought, waiting for the parade they are supposed to be a part of.
