Colorized Photo from 1941, April
Original title: Part of the Easter parade on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois

Location: 5831 S. Indiana Ave, Chicago, IL
It was a cold, cloudy, Easter morning, one day in Chicago on the South side when this was photographed. The ladies here are standing in front of St. Edmunds Episcopal church. They are waiting to be a part of today's festivities, the Blessing of the bounds, a ceremony and parade that invites people to wear their finest clothing and partake in it.
St Edmunds Church has a history that started in the 1900's. They moved around quite a bit, starting in a basement, then on a second floor, it wasn't until it was the 1940's where they found an actual church shaped building to reside in, before moving yet again to its current building located on 6100 Michigan Ave. The old church still stands along with the apartments across the street.
