I have to say I have no idea who the Overall's circus is no matter how hard I looked. The banner on one elephant suggests its from Barnum. But other sites say Coney Island. But Coney Island is an hour away by car from this point, and while I know in its day it was larger, it wasn't that much larger.
I also coudln't find elephant pants, couldn't decide if they should be blue because they would look like overalls, or red, something for more show. I did find another color version of this, they used red, so I used red, maybe they know something I don't.
The photographer did a good job with the bokeh on this. Intentional or not, it makes it look almost 3D. Considering its just a news article, that part was good, the two cut off on the right, not so good. Bain was known for cutting people off on the edge.
They used most the circus this way. It was the easiest way to move them from the trains to the fairgrounds. They did it even recently, but don't as much now due to protesters and then finally they banned elephants from circuses. Barnum and Bailey took a hit, and went out of business some 150 or so years.
The buildings in the background, are still here today, and all are a vague beige.
