I've always loved the World's fairs, there were so many of them, and I've seen none of them other than photos. This one caught my eye, I mean there are a bunch of trains, sorry, locomotives, under a roof. Lined up like little toys. That giant engine in the background, was built for the fair, its called the Corliss Centennial Engine, drives all the machines in the fair. Imagine being there and this 45ft tall machine is moving, with that huge wheel, that must have been so cool.
I'm not even sure what some of these exhibits are. The typewriter was introduced here, and I think Roebling spoke about his bridge and the cable he used was at this show some place.
I think I found the right colors for engine 89, it wasn't an exact match though. The rest were guesses, I didn't want them too colorful, but I did want color. I found 1870 engines and took it from that.
I took out some signs in the center that added nothing. Originally I made the ceiling a beige color as I saw in a picture the walls looked sort of white. But then later read that Machinery Hall, was more of a blue color. Which honest is a lot nicer, as there is already so much dark or brown in this shot.
If you look carefully, you will see a relaxed and quite bored time traveler on the left. He blends with the bench a bit though.
