Colorized photo from 1865
Original title: "Gen. J.C. Robinson" and other locomotives of the U.S. Military Railroad
Photographer: Milhollen and Mugridge
Location: City Point, VA (Hopewell, VA)
The black and white has two photos in it, a left and a right, it was a stereo picture. Only one side was really blurry. But it made the image larger stitched as a panorama.
What drove me crazy were all the little dots I had to blend in. That part took a while. The colors for the most part were found on other engines that people made. Because each one I found had their own ideas of what the colors might have looked like, I went between the two I found, and made a third variant of how I think it should look.
There was another version of this photo that only had that one locomotive on the upper right. But I chose this because there were more loco's in it. More is better.
The locomotives shown here are: The General grant (upper right), The Governor NYE...
My name is Mike Savad, I create one of a kind images. Photo realistic, is what people think of first. I specialize in job themes, such as Pharmacist, Doctor, Firemen, Lawyer, etc. Steampunk is another favorite. I'm certain you will find something that you will like. My art is inspired by Norman Rockwell and Paintings from the time of the Renaissance. Be sure to visit my Scene in Color section. I expertly restore and colorize black and white images. See the past come alive with color. Each image is painstakingly cleaned and repaired, colors are researched and shaded in. Images are designed to coordinate with the rest of my collection. The past was far more colorful than you would have imagined. Want something fun to do? Sometimes I hide...
