Artist's Description
Colorized photo from 1910
Original title: St Charles Ave from Canal
Location:110 St Charles Ave, New Orleans, Louisiana
Detroit Publishing is the company that makes many of these street scenes. They made a living taking pictures from around the country and turning them into colorized postcards. Usually when they make them, they look just like the photos (because it was a photo).
However in this case, they removed that large red sign on the right. I can't imagine why they would take the time to remove it. They added new railing, windows, etc. It doesn't make much sense why they would do that. They also added a lady where the purple one was, as she was blurry in here. It's interesting to note that most of the buildings still exist today, including one of the tracks.
About Mike Savad
My name is Mike Savad, I create one of a kind images. Photo realistic, is what people think of first. I specialize in job themes, such as Pharmacist, Doctor, Firemen, Lawyer, etc. Steampunk is another favorite. I'm certain you will find something that you will like. My art is inspired by Norman Rockwell and Paintings from the time of the Renaissance. Be sure to visit my Scene in Color section. I expertly restore and colorize black and white images. See the past come alive with color. Each image is painstakingly cleaned and repaired, colors are researched and shaded in. Images are designed to coordinate with the rest of my collection. The past was far more colorful than you would have imagined. Want something fun to do? Sometimes I hide...
