Artist's Description
Colorized photo from 1941
Original Title: Amsterdam, New York
Location: Corner of E Main St and Church St, Amsterdam, NY
Not quite sure why the original was so faded and bright, not much reason for it anyway. Luckily it was saved as a 16bit, so it was easy to fix. There is a lot of distortion at the top, almost as if the building curves into the street. After repairing it, I had a large gap on the left. So I filled that in, and gave him a little more space to move around in.
This location is just to the left of a White Tower burger joint I already made. That guy on the left is in both images. Another site placed an ID on all the cars, so I was able to find them all with their original colors.
About Mike Savad
My name is Mike Savad, I create one of a kind images. Photo realistic, is what people think of first. I specialize in job themes, such as Pharmacist, Doctor, Firemen, Lawyer, etc. Steampunk is another favorite. I'm certain you will find something that you will like. My art is inspired by Norman Rockwell and Paintings from the time of the Renaissance. Be sure to visit my Scene in Color section. I expertly restore and colorize black and white images. See the past come alive with color. Each image is painstakingly cleaned and repaired, colors are researched and shaded in. Images are designed to coordinate with the rest of my collection. The past was far more colorful than you would have imagined. Want something fun to do? Sometimes I hide...

Wow, this is the first time I've ever looked at the comparison between the photograph you started with and the resulting image once you've colorized it. Outstanding work, Mike. You'd swear that it was a color photo to start with but it also has a painterly look that's very appealing. No wonder it takes you so long to do these! The details (like the sidewalk) are incredible.
