There is something special about being at the butchers. A place where raw meat lives, a place where can choose the chunk you want and have it cut off just the way you like it.
Breathe that air and remember that scent. Blood in the air, sawdust on the floor, meat going bad... Such memories you will keep forever.
When your order was ready, they would put it in a brown paper bag and place it in a basket on the floor
The lights are dim for a reason, this building was built in 1870, before lights were a thing. It originally was lit with candle light. A building that stretches over 2 blocks, all lit by candles. When lights did come out, it must have been a real miracle to behold.
However that didn't change the lack of technology, despite having electric refrigerated cases, this place likes doing it old school, and prefers the classic look of an old type ice chest, which really did not hold that much meat.
