It's fun to ride in a park when you have some free time and just enjoy Autumn. However, in this case, I believe these two children are merely props, brought over by the photographer who took this. That train, belongs to the Detroit Publishing Company. They used a giant camera back then that needed a train to move it around, they developed pictures in that Pullman.
They would stop from place to place to take pictures of the scenery, then they would make color postcards using a special process called photochrom, this was made just before color photos really came out. The colors were far more basic, but it looked better than black and white.

i suppose its not impossible. but since it was used to haul their stuff and it was taken 130 years ago, i doubt it.
