Description
In the early days, there was often one single store, the general store. Nothing fancy, they sold a little of everything. Food, spice, medicine, hardware, etc. But not a lot of any one thing.
Basically they were the first convenience store. When you only needed just a bit, just a jar, a spool of thread, maybe a pair of boots, you came here. There were friends to talk to, it was a place you could catch up on the latest gossip as well.
Despite the cash register facing the wrong way, we can assume they were super honest in this area, allowing people to ring themselves up. Generally there was a person behind the counter, and they took things off the shelf for you.
