Description
Colorized photo from 1922, May
Original Title: Grand Palace, shoe shining parlor
Location: 719 1/2 14th St. N.W. Washington DC
I made this scene with two images. I think they were taken on totally different days maybe even a week apart. I say this because the items in the window changes on the left. The poster and hats are totally different. One of the scenes had rain, the other hand back lit sun.
But I only liked parts of the image. I really liked the guys in the door way, the meet and greet, and it shows what they do there. But the signs were in terrible shape, and while there are ways to fix them - having one that is already clean is preferred.
I liked the poster in the window on the left, but not the hats. I liked the hats on the right picture more. Some of the magazines were sharper on the left. This was an 8bit picture, but it had enough detail that I was able to extract enough information to see all the way into the back of the store. There were a few lights out, but there were skylights there.
I'm not sure why they where bell hop outfits, that's what it looked like anyway. This location doesn't exist today, but the building across the street dos, and you can see that reflected in the hat window.
