The funny thing is, when I think of biplanes, I think of these small planes that fight with other small planes, occasionally flown by a dog on a small red house. But I never imagined they got this huge. Its almost comically huge.
This thing was designed to fly great distances, but it had to stop along the way now and then. In this picture they either used up their propellers, or they are just finishing it up.
The plane is started via a crank on the front of the engine. There is a Youtube video showing it being started and taking off. This current plane is in a museum right now.
Some of the colors are debatable depending where you look. Some models show the thing as entirely yellow, others have a blue boat section. In a 1960's photo, they showed the engines as a chrome color, but in the museum it had a sort of beige look, so I went with that. My guess is, it was probably a shiny silver of some kind, its hard to know or what to trust. I can also say its a reflection of all that yellow paint too.
The wings were a yellow to beige color depending on the light, and the bottom was a battle ship gray. The holder for it was gray in the museum, and it looked pretty much like the same thing.
