Description
Colorized photo from 1915
Original Title: Weller's drug store, S & I SE
Location: 755 Eighth Street SE, Washington DC
This pharmacy was opened by Franklin Pierce Weller on 1890, it closed only after many decades. He lived in the apartment directly above. In 1920 he teamed up with a druggist Thomas A. Moskey, they became known as Weller and Moskey Pharmacy.
Like today's modern pharmacy, this one also sells the small things. Candy, nail clippers, little bells, cards, cigars, soap and lotion. Everything displayed in a lovely Victorian motif of over carved cabinets and gas lamps. There was once even a soda fountain, as shown by those folding stools.
