Original Title: Drug store with soda fountain
Location: Detroit, MI, 273 Woodward Ave
This is Bertram Brothers pharmacy. They ran a fine establishment, complete with mahogany everywhere, marble, and all the elegance you would expect in a pharmacy/soda fountain.
The brothers opened three pharmacies in the Detroit Michigan area. Each one was placed across the street from a train station. They felt that people got sick on trains, and it seemed they were right. They did very well.
They sold all kinds of medicine, film and candy. And of course they had a great soda fountain. In the past a soda fountain would be used to disguise gross medicine. But these days it became just a fun thing to drink and was served in a number of ways.
