Original title: Fire in E. 14th st
Location: 116 East 14th St, New York, NY
This is the story, a fire broke out next door to this theater at about 7pm. Everyone in the theater got out, all 900 people, through back exits. The people in the other building, there were only 4 of them, went through a burning stairwell, as the elevator didn't work...
It took about an hour to put out the main fire, and two more hours to get it to totally stop.
I wasn't sure what the sky should look like, there were few shadows and a lot of smoke, the lights were on at the theater. I looked up the sunset for that area and time, and it said it was around 8pm or so. I'm guessing this is either 8pm or 9pm, hard to know exactly.
They didn't mention if the time was am or pm, but i can't imagine people filing into a movie theater at 6am. It also looks like they are cleaning up.
So I made the sky dusk, a sort of blue hour, it also makes the red look nicer. The image was shot as a vertical panorama for some reason. It was for a newspaper, its not known if they some how aligned it or not. due to the perspective, I had to crop some of the right off, I did want that person in the window, but oh well.
