Description
Colorized photo from 1941, July 4th
Original title: Parade. Fourth of July
Photographer: Russel Lee
Location: 100 A St W., Vale, Oregon
This is the Vale, Oregon 4th of July extravaganza. Its a parade they old almost every year with the exception of one year during the war in the 40's. It's a tradition that has been going on for over a hundred years.
However it was never recorded anywhere. Despite the history there wasn't a single postcard or barely a mention about this parade. And if it wasn't for this wandering photographer, we would never have seen it.
All I know is, its very flaggy. The center banners, look like they should be a state flag but they aren't, and I don't know if they were state colors, but just went with flag colors instead.
The buildings for the most part, still exist, which is good because I would have made them pink, and never really would have guessed they were white to tan.
