Every so often I end up doing one very complicated, and this is one of those. It super busy so I had to use color choices carefully. Choosing more earthy colors for the people so they would blend into the garden a bit. I wanted the eyes to start on the center where it says Owl Drugs. They should then naturally look at all the people.
From there I assume they will look for cars, I chose yellow on the right, with an awning to match. And a red hot rod style on the left, I did look up the colors, but chances are they are could be wrong, I don't know models well enough to look them all up, and today's versions of these cars are all hot rods, hard to find OEM colors.
What I thought was interesting was the Stop and Go signs. I've never actually seen them in any image I had. Seems they were popular in California, I've only seen them in Warner bros cartoons. They still had red and green lights, but the yellow light would flash (on the bottom), when it was about to hit stop, and it would ding when it was time to go.
Most of these buildings still exist, though the hotel reviews are not that great, I'm guessing it went down hill over the years. I did find some postcards and based colors off of that. The building on the far right I made purple because its Victorian, and we paint them like that today, so they probably did then as well. The lights weren't on, but I just like them on. Also check out the signs, all Art Deco.
