Original Title: Dock Street

Location: 116 Dock Street, Philadelphia, PA
This street had a number of postcards, each varied by address up and down the stret. Each seemed to have a lot of color or expressed that there was. But I ignored their idea of colors, and chose my own.
Dock street was a central wholesale produce market from 1870-1959. When it closed the place became very urban and slum like and all these buildings were torn down. The market itself moved to a new location.
This is also one of the only streets that are bent. Most streets in this area are based on a grid, but this one curves because it used to be a creek. Canoes would dock here, which is why it was called Dock Creek in its day. And it was thought that it would become a docking area, so the name stuck. Back in the 1700's they dumped sewage in to it, garbage, and tanning was popular and it would all wash back up into the town when it rained. So they capped it off and now its a street.
Today its just a very bumpy road. You would never know it had any buildings on it. It's more like a driveway, that has these cobblestones on it.
