Sometimes its amazing how much an area changes over the years. It had time of course, this scene is around a 120 years old. And everything has changed. That pretty building vanished in the 1920's. The El train was removed in the 1940's and replaced with a subway. Those buildings on 6th street were removed and I think set back and tall buildings replaced it.
Macy's on the left (you can't see it), is the only thing that is the same. They said this area is pedestrian friendly, I can say that there are crosswalks here. I never have seen them any where else. And they seem to stop at the streetcar stop.
If you look close you can see a lunch cart on the right, a really over the top mani-pedi sign, with a dragon holder on the building. Those rolls of stuff on the side is probably newspaper material. Since that is the Herald building. The owls on the roof are 4ft tall, and have green eyes that glowed and blinked to the clock chiming.
There are no shadows, so it was probably cloudy. The steam in the background is original to the picture.
