Original title: Main st, Second largest gold mining town in the state
Photographer: Russell Lee
Location: Bursum Rd, Near the museum
This is Mogollon New Mexico a very small town then, and not much of a town today. Back then there were like 2000-3000 people, it was a gold mining town. But as the price of gold dropped, so did the workers, and today its a ghost town, privately owned, and they tour people there.
There are a few buildings on this street that still exist today, and those are the ones made of stones (see the third little piggy got it right). The one with the pinkish top, is the museum. This is the only road that google has recorded there. I'm not sure why they called this Main St, I assume they changed it at some point to Bursem Rd.
This town looks like it fell apart while picture was being taken. I chose colors that matched the few houses that are there, along with choosing themes of commercial buildings around New Mexico. They seem to use bright colors with a mix of an adobe orange. So I went with that, choose blue for the store because it looked nice and allowed us to ground our eyes on that first.
