Original Title: Street market in Paris, France
Location: 38 Rue Montogueil, Paris, France
This is the Les Halles de Paris, a food market that was started 800 years ago, yeah 800. Napoleon, was the one that created it, wanting to show case Paris. They sold everything, meat, fish, vegetables, fruit, and everything in between. It was called the "Belly of Paris".
As the population grew, so did the market. So much so, that it created bottlenecks, and over crowding. By 1950, there were simply too many people, and by 1960, they started to dismantle that great building.
Today there is a market, its an underground market, it fills the giant hole they left in the city (the city built itself around the market). Some of the buildings remain, the outdoor glut of people, not so much..
