Colorized photo from 1906
Original Title: Up the hill by trolley
Photographer: Detroit Publishing
Location: 176 W Clifton Ave, Cincinnati, Ohio (Starting point)
This picture was really messed up, I had to rebuild the right half. I also cloned the shadow of the house in the foreground (where this image was taken according to another postcard).
All the postcards of this location show the streetcars being different variations of red and yellow. Despite coloring other funiculars from this area, they all look different and yet the same.
That dark smoke is coal smoke, it's one of the selling points of riding in these things. To get out of that smoke field... but, the powerhouse on the top also burned coal so it wasn't really much of a selling point.
The really crazy part about this incline was that the medical school next door would often throw fingers and toes from cadavers as the cars passed by because it was so loud. Loud enough that professors had to stop talking every 10 min. The students would even wave around dismembered arms and legs at the ladies as they passed. It shows you that we never really grew up.
Below this image was a beer company that would store both beer and dead bodies for this school. Crazy right...
