Part of me thought this would be fairly fast to do once I finished the people in it, because the buildings for the most part are all one color. But there were so many ladies with those really fancy hats. I'm a stickler for detail and always fill in the hats, so it took a little while to make this one. I was able to lift the colors from postcards and the actual location.
When researching the Mandel Brothers, I learned that they used a subway system to drop goods off into their store. They had a warehouse a great distance from here, which I think is still standing. Between there and here, they connected a long tunnel to deliver goods via a small train they had underground. Many stores took advantage of this system. Though many are currently closed today, a few are open and others are used for running phone lines.
A few small details to look for. There are two window washers or coordinated jumpers just up the block. The sea of hats the ladies are wearing. A stage coach that dropped people off at the Carson building. And a fleet of wagons from the Montgomery Ward building, because they may not have been a part of that subway system.
