The showman is the one guy that sticks out of the crowd, who is always ready to smile when they see a crowd or a camera. You often don't know who he is, but he will jump out and strike a pose.
This is the Regal Theater showing an Easter Matinee. The kids were just let out of church, and they are showing the Philadelphia story. You'll notice how nice they are all dressed, well that is how they dressed then, though they did just go to church. That said, if they were in common street clothes, they would have looked really out of place. Inside the building is dressed up like a palace, with gilded ceilings and gold leaf everywhere.
