Figuring out what color scheme a building the 1940's should have, its a real adventure. They had no taste then, really bold ugly colors, red, yellow, aqua, those were the main colors. But if you want a dated look you use dated colors, which I did.
In those days the working class had soft muted, earth tone colors, I think the guy with the cigar is the only non working class.
Usually when I do the magazines I only find half of them, this time around i found 95% of them, a few were tricky though. Most of them were detective based, each featuring a different kind of girl, some are nudie magazines.
I almost gave up on the food stamp poster, and started coloring it in. Then I ran a title search and found the exact one, and I was close on some of it, far off on others. I never would have guessed some of that had a blue background. There is a large jar in the center, I don't know what the contents are. I made them look like butter squares, it could be cookies or really anything. It might be pickles, but the shade was off.
