Colorized photo from 1910, Feburary
Original Title: Bastable Cafe, 8 very small boys employed here
Location: Syracuse, NY
I've been colorizing for a while now, and its funny, that no matter how many unusual things I see from the past, there are still people doing it today. While in the past they used children for hours in these dimly lit rooms, today you can still find lanes that employ high school kids to reset the pins and return the ball. They say its cheaper and uses far less room, because the machine is rather large.
I wanted to shade it in, so it removed the light the flash caused. My guess was, that this room was even darker than shown. I added a light on the left because I think its just out of frame anyway. And made the pins yellow with a white stripe, because that's what was suggested when I made this. Usually a pin has a white base with a red stripe, but these don't follow that.
