Artist's Description
Colorized photo from 1905
Original Title: NY Central RR coming thru
Location:225 E Washington St, Syracuse, NY
This is why it really pays to study old maps before you travel back in time.
Right now, today, this location, does not have that large building. It was removed because they needed to replace it with a state of the art parking lot. And it still is a parking lot, so is that thing behind us that has that giant shadow that I removed.
On the far right, that street, is now a park. The building in the center (the flat iron), has totally different colors today.
I liked the uniqueness of the scene. A bit of danger, a bit of locomotive romance, and a bit of intrigue. The image had some random motion blur, I would imagine this thing made the ground shake. Can you imagine having a hotel room here though? On a regular basis, a train screams through, ringing and honking, shaking glasses. Then a ton of steam and smoke pour through your open wind...
About Mike Savad
My name is Mike Savad, I create one of a kind images. Photo realistic, is what people think of first. I specialize in job themes, such as Pharmacist, Doctor, Firemen, Lawyer, etc. Steampunk is another favorite. I'm certain you will find something that you will like. My art is inspired by Norman Rockwell and Paintings from the time of the Renaissance. Be sure to visit my Scene in Color section. I expertly restore and colorize black and white images. See the past come alive with color. Each image is painstakingly cleaned and repaired, colors are researched and shaded in. Images are designed to coordinate with the rest of my collection. The past was far more colorful than you would have imagined. Want something fun to do? Sometimes I hide...
