Beautiful coloration and interesting subject, not to mention the humor in your "fixer-upper" description. I checked out Cleveland's Collinwood on GoogleEarth and located buildings very similar to this one. Who knows -- this one may still be standing. /f

Incredible image! Love what you did with it, Mike!

Artist's Description

Colorized photo from 1913, Nov 11
Original Title: Cleveland storm damage
Location: Collinwood, Cleveland, Ohio

Open house today, For sale: 2 story charming hotel with a great view of a scenic lake. Dollhouse like qualities, well ventilated, quick access to street. Fixer upper.

On November 11th, 1913, there was a very bad blizzard, it had hurricane like winds and dropped a good 24" of snow. They named it the "Great lakes hurricane". It had a sustained wind of 79mph that lasted a full minute.

Telephone and telegraph wires, and poles were knocked over, the entire area was cut off from the rest of the state. As you can see there was considerable damage.

You can see why we now have building codes today. Also to note, in today's world, one does not stand in or under a building when the wall falls off. Not even for a selfie.

About Mike Savad

Mike Savad

My name is Mike Savad, I create one of a kind images. Photo realistic, is what people think of first. I specialize in job themes, such as Pharmacist, Doctor, Firemen, Lawyer, etc. Steampunk is another favorite. I'm certain you will find something that you will like. My art is inspired by Norman Rockwell and Paintings from the time of the Renaissance. Be sure to visit my Scene in Color section. I expertly restore and colorize black and white images. See the past come alive with color. Each image is painstakingly cleaned and repaired, colors are researched and shaded in. Images are designed to coordinate with the rest of my collection. The past was far more colorful than you would have imagined. Want something fun to do? Sometimes I hide...
