Description
Show of hands, anyone know what this archaic device is? If your over 50 you probably used one, however it might have been slightly more modern then this model.
This is a typewriter. It more or less replaced the pen. First you place paper in the rollers, make sure the ink ribbon was in, and then pound down on the keys with great force, to place letters on the page. They made a few distinct sounds:
Clicking
Clacking
A ringing bell
Swear words when the keys tangled.
This is an old one, it has not 1 key, they used the I key instead. If you were a secretary, this would be your main device. Today we use plastic keyboards that look very close to this one. Or a phone or tablet that looks really nothing like this one.
